Direct School Admission (DSA) Application for Secondary Schools and JCs is now Open

Students who wish to apply for direct admission to secondary schools and junior colleges (JCs) in Singapore can do so from May 7, 2025. The application window runs from 11am on May 7 to 3pm on June 3, 2025.

Applications must be submitted online via the Ministry of Education’s (MOE) DSA-Sec Portal; late applications will not be accepted.

What is DSA-Sec?

The Direct School Admission (DSA) for secondary schools (DSA-Sec) allows students to gain admission to secondary schools based on their interests, aptitudes, and potential, beyond just their Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) results. This pathway is designed for students who have specific talents or achievements in areas such as sports, the arts, leadership, or academic domains.

Key Points for DSA-Sec Applicants

If your child is admitted to a secondary school through DSA-Sec, they:

  • Cannot submit school choices during the Secondary 1 (S1) posting process.
  • Are not allowed to transfer to another school after accepting the DSA offer. They must commit to their chosen school for the duration of the programme.
  • DSA-Sec is not suitable for every student. Parents should carefully consider their child’s strengths, interests, and the school’s programmes before applying.
  • All DSA applicants must still sit for the PSLE or O-level examinations.
  • For secondary school applicants, admission is guaranteed if the student accepts the DSA offer and meets the minimum PSLE requirement for the posting group that the school admits from.

MOE posts students to secondary schools through three posting groups:

  • PG1: corresponds to the previous Normal (Technical) standard
  • PG2: corresponds to the Normal (Academic) standard
  • PG3: corresponds to the Express standard.

DSA for Junior Colleges

Similarly, students applying to JCs via DSA will be guaranteed a place if their O-level results meet the minimum requirements for admission. Once a DSA offer is accepted, students cannot participate in the Joint Admissions Exercise or transfer to another school after receiving their examination results.

Application Process

  • Applications are submitted online at www.moe.gov.sg/dsa-sec for secondary schools and www.moe.gov.sg/dsa-jc for JCs.
  • Applicants can select up to three choices of schools and talent areas, and may indicate the same school for up to two different talent areas in their application.
  • The application process is free of charge.
  • The selection process varies by school and may include interviews, auditions, or trials. Details are available on individual school websites.
  • Applicants not from MOE mainstream primary schools must obtain a registration number before applying.

Timeline

  • Application period: 11am, May 7, 2025 – 3pm, June 3, 2025.
  • Shortlisted applicants will be notified by schools for further selection stages.
  • DSA-Sec outcomes will be released by September 4, 2025.

Important Reminders

  • Students admitted through DSA must honour their commitment to the school and participate actively in the relevant talent area throughout their programme.
  • Parents and students are encouraged to research and choose schools that best fit the student’s strengths and aspirations.
